How many books do you read in a week and what are they, could you share one?

I remember once reading two books in a week: Animal Farm by George Orwell and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The reason I read both in a week is because they are short reads. However, when it comes to longer books, I prefer to take time, allowing the story to slowly permeate my mind like a slow-acting but potent elixir.

Nowadays, if we look at Booktok, Booktube, or Bookstagram, they are brimming with recommendations, and we see readers setting goals of finishing 100, 200, or even 300 books a year. I know it is a personal choice to read as many books as they want. Nothing wrong!! But I feel it somewhat loses the essence of reading.

When you are focused on finishing a book quickly to meet a goal, you might miss the deeper enjoyment and insights it offers. And yes, it’s not a race and you are not gonna win any trophy. Instead, it is one of the most luxurious and enriching hobbies in the world. In this digital era, if you love to get lost in the world of books over scrolling through social media, then my child, you are blessed. You are truly God’s favourite. If you are dedicating even 15 to 20 minutes to reading each day, you are adding tremendous value to your life.

P.S. I don’t get how people move on from one book to another in a day like moving on from an ex. It takes me months to get over the characters. ;)

I believe in “quality reading” rather than quantity. By that I mean it doesn’t matter how much you read in a week, month or year, but what you truly “absorb” from them.
